Ipswich Town: Tyrone Mings dons shirt at Glastonbury

England international and Premier League player Tyrone Mings took a picture with fan Sean Edwards after they swapped their shirts ahead of Elton John's headline set on Sunday evening.

The current Aston Villa defender joined Town from Chippenham in 2012, and went on to make 57 league appearances in a Blues shirt before moving to Bournemouth for a reported fee of £8million three years later.

Mr Edwards said of the experience: "I was walking through the crowd and was trying to get closer to the front, and I got a tap on the shoulder.

"I turned around and looked up, and he had a hat on so initially I didn't recognise who it was, but then I realised it was Tyrone Mings.

"He just asked me if I was a Town fan as I was wearing the third kit, and we spoke for a bit about Town and then he asked me if I wanted to swap shirts with him.

"I said yes, and we did, and then he asked if he could keep my shirt and I keep his, so he has my Town shirt now and I have ended up with that multicoloured cardigan he was wearing."

Mings was at Glastonbury with former England women's international Eni Aluko, the sister of Town player Sone Aluko.

The trio spoke about Mings' time in Suffolk, Sone Aluko's recent new contract at Ipswich and the current Blues team, who are preparing for a return to the Championship this coming season.

Before seeing Mr Edwards, Mings also swapped shirts with an Aston Villa fan who was wearing a retro shirt.

Mings was a fan favourite at Ipswich for both his work on the pitch, as well as his community work off it.

This includes offering to pay for two tickets to a match for a fan from Haverhill and buying new replica shirts for two fans after his squad number had been changed.
