A coroner has ruled that a Claydon man who died in a serious crash on the A14 in Suffolk last year intended to take his own life. 

Jason Pack, 39, died on September 17 after being struck by multiple vehicles.

Police were called to the scene of the crash, which happened just before 9pm on the A14 at Coddenham, north of Ipswich. 

At Suffolk Coroners' Court on Friday, the presiding coroner Darren Stewart reported the findings of Nigel Parsley, senior coroner for Suffolk.

The court heard that witnesses in the car which first struck Mr Pack said there were no vehicles ahead, and that Mr Pack had “appeared” in front of them. 

Mr Stewart said this suggested that Mr Pack had waited for the car to approach before entering the carriageway.

Nobody else was injured during the crash. 

The court heard that Mr Pack had described thoughts of ending his own life in the past. 

Mr Pack died from his injuries on Saturday, September 17.

A conclusion of suicide was recorded.
