A day care nursery on the site of Ipswich Hospital has gone from a 'requires improvement' rating from the watchdog to 'good' in just seven months.
Hunnitots Day Nursery, which falls under East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which primarily runs Ipswich and Colchester hospitals, has been rated 'good' by education watchdog Ofsted.
The nursery was visited by Ofsted in May for a re-inspection, after it was judged at 'requires improvement' after a visit in October 2023.
The report states that since the last inspection leaders have worked to "strengthen the curriculum and how well staff deliver it".
The report also found that there had been "significant improvements to the way that staff support children's personal, social and emotional development".
This was one area that was criticised in October, with inspectors saying that staff needed "appropriate training, skills and knowledge to plan and deliver a rich and varied early years curriculum".
In the most recent inspection, the children at the school were also said to be "happy and content at the nursery" and they "engage well in learning".
Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) also show that they feel "safe and secure through their positive behaviours".
The nursery currently has an acting manager, who is part of a management team who "involve and motivate staff in making improvements".
While the nursery has been rated 'good', Ofsted has provided some advice for the school to improve further.
This includes promoting the development of children's self-care skills, developing further staff's understanding on how to deliver the challenging curriculum and revise plans and methods for sharing information with parents so they are fully informed.
