Suffolk Chamber of Commerce says it is delighted after forming a partnership with newly-promoted Ipswich Town Football Club (ITFC).

Town has underlined its commitment to helping the local community and businesses to prosper by signing up as chamber patron.

Suffolk Chamber said the club's promotion to the Premier League is having a profound impact.

The club brings a wealth of experience and influence - making it an "ideal ally" for advancing the interests of the Suffolk business community, it said.

Chamber chief executive John Dugmore welcomed Town chief executive Mark Ashton and chief financial officer Tom Ball.

"Suffolk Chamber team, board, fellow patrons, and members extend a warm welcome to Mark, Tom, and the entire Ipswich Town Football Club team," he said.

"Strengthening their support for the county's leading business organisation by becoming a patron underscores Ipswich Town's commitment to not only our county town but the entirety of Suffolk.

"Ipswich Town Football Club is an iconic entity and their active involvement and support will enhance Suffolk Chamber's ongoing campaigns on behalf of businesses in terms of infrastructure, skills, and taxation.

"Together, we share a common vision - to steadfastly support local businesses and the communities they serve, leveraging the passion and influence of Ipswich Town Football Club to drive positive change across the town and the wider county."

The club was dedicated to "excellence and community engagement", and has earned widespread respect and admiration from fans and businesses, the chamber said.

Tom Ball said it was a key moment underlining the club's commitment to the region.

"The Football Club has always had a long-standing relationship with the County Chamber of Commerce," he said.

"However, becoming a patron represents another important moment in our continued and ongoing commitment to the prosperity of Ipswich and the broader Suffolk region.

“Together, we share a unified vision to advance economic vitality and prosperity for Suffolk, leveraging our collective strengths to create a thriving community for future generations.

"Our shared ambitions and focus on progress make this partnership a natural evolution in our journey. The synergy and potential for significant impact are evident."

The partnership signified a "shared vision for a flourishing and prosperous Suffolk", they said.
