Charges were dismissed against a man from Ipswich who was accused of actual bodily harm and intentional strangulation but admitted criminal damage.

Thomas Goolding, 51 and of Stevenson Road in the town, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday. He was facing six charges.

These were two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of intentional strangulation and two counts of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.

The alleged offences all took place between February and April this year.

Goolding denied all but one of these offences, pleading guilty to one count of criminal damage.

For this, Goolding was sentenced to one month in prison and was ordered to pay a £154 surcharge which goes towards victims’ services.

No further action will be taken regarding the other five offences as the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence for them.
