A major health brand is set to open another shop in the town as signs have gone up around the outside of a building which has been left vacant for several years.

Holland & Barrett, a health food shop which has more than 1,300 stores in 16 countries, is set to open another shop in Ipswich.

Signs have been placed around the outside of the new premises, at 7 Tavern Street near the Cornhill.

It is taking over the former Carphone Warehouse, which has been empty for a number of years, after the retailer confirmed it was closing all of its physical standalone stores in March 2020.

The signs say: "Say hello to your new Ipswich store. Coming soon."

There are currently two other Holland & Barretts in the town centre - one in Westgate Street and another in Buttermarket shopping centre.

An opening date is yet to be announced.

Holland & Barrett has been approached for comment, with more information set to be revealed soon.

Last month, plans were submitted to convert the offices above the new store into flats, with Ipswich Borough Council yet to make a decision on the plans.
