A home in Ipswich which is currently being used as a house of multiple occupation (HMO) for 16 people has applied to continue its use.
The house, situated at 69 Nelson Road, has been used as a HMO for over 20 years.
The site is hoping to continue as such, as an application has gone in to Ipswich Borough Council to continue the site as an HMO.
The site falls under the Article 4 direction which came into effect on June 1 meaning all HMOs of five or more occupants being applied for that falls within the area need to have planning permission.
Carole Jones, Ipswich Borough Council portfolio holder for planning and museums, said: "HMOs provide housing for a range of people, and they are important.
"This policy will mean we have control over HMOs of all sizes.
"It is an ideal situation because it provides for a reasonable balance within any given area and provides proper living conditions for people in Ipswich."
