Drivers are being warned to expect delays on the A14 tomorrow as another transformer is escorted through Ipswich.

The 470-tonne abnormal load is the final abnormal load to be moved to Bramford Substation in Bullen Lane.

The loads have taken place over consecutive weekends since Sunday, June 23.

The transformer is set to be escorted by the police from Ipswich Port at 8am on Sunday, July 14 affecting traffic on the A14 on the outskirts of the town.

A rolling road block will be installed on the major route which will be "wrong sided" while the convoy is escorted along the carriageway.

Traffic will also be affected on the A137, A14, A1214, A1071, B1113, Bullen Lane and local roads to the site.

It comes after the A14 was closed last week for the movement of a 77 metre long piece of equipment.

Speaking about the operation, a spokesman for National Highways said: "Due to the complexity of moving equipment of this size, there will be disruption on the A14.

"To ensure there are no hold-ups, there will be some activities carried out ahead of the convoy, which includes the removal of carriageway signage."
