Ipswich's SEH French and Orwell donate to Halifax Primary

Construction firm SEH French, in partnership with Orwell Housing, handed a cheque to Halifax Primary School in Prince of Wales Drive to fund Lego kits and staff training.

The school is neighbouring to a site where SEH French recently built 15 new affordable homes for the housing association.

Many pupils from the school who had shown keen interest in the construction process were invited to participate in the handover ceremony, planting a tree to commemorate the event.

Neil Pryke, the contracts manager at SEH French, said: “It is a pleasure to make this donation alongside our partners at Orwell Housing.

“We hope this donation will not just give them an opportunity to have some fun, but explore the wonders of building too.”

SEH Frenchn works on social and affordable housing projects in Ipswich and was established more than three decades ago.

Currently, it is involved in the construction of 30 new affordable flats at a former Hope Church site in Fore Hamlet near Ipswich Waterfront.

Orwell Housing, too, shares a history of providing affordable housing in Ipswich, managing about 4,000 homes throughout East Anglia since 1963.

Dawn Edwards, head of developments at Orwell Housing, said: “The school being our neighbour, we’re delighted to contribute to the children’s learning and enjoyment.

“We hope this demonstrates to pupils that a career in construction and development can be exceptionally rewarding.”

Halifax Primary School's headteacher, Anita Krishna, expressed gratitude for the generous contribution.

Mr Krishna said: “We are very grateful to both SEH French and Orwell Housing for this generous donation.

“I look forward to seeing their creations.”
