Three parks in Ipswich have been recognised with a prestigious award that shows off the high standards of green spaces across the country. 

The three beauty spots have received a Green Flag award, the international quality mark for parks and green spaces, while two others have also been recognised with community awards.

Bourne Park, Christchurch Park and Holywells Park, which are all run and looked after by Ipswich Borough Council, were all awarded. 

It is the second year in a row that the three parks received the Green Flag Award

Last year Christchurch Park received national recognition after it was named one of the best free parks to visit with kids

Keep Britain Tidy chief executive, Allison Ogden-Newton OBE, said: "Prioritising parks and green spaces is vital for our future, so we are delighted to see that 176 sites in the East of England have met the standards required for a Green Flag Award, reflecting the tireless work of those tasked with looking after these important regional assets."
