Emergency services carried out a water rescue after a person became stuck in the mud at low tide.
Five fire appliances, ambulance and police were called to Princes Street in Ipswich at around 7pm.
The person was freed from the river and a stretcher was used in the rescue.
The fire service was stood down just before 8pm and one man was taken to Ipswich Hospital for further care.
