The people of Ipswich will have the chance to meet homegrown star Fabio Wardley, and boxing legend Joe Egan, this Saturday.

After the success of last month’s visit from author and actor Carlton Leach, Ipswich businessmen Darren Summers and Mark Beadsworth have once again teamed up to bring two more celebrities to our town.

The duo have pooled their celebrity contacts to bring well-known names to Ipswich, to raise money for charity and also to offer a boost to our town.

From 7pm on Saturday, September 7, pride of Ipswich boxer Fabio Wardley and Joe Egan, who used to spar with Mike Tyson, will be at A-Listers at Aurora for a ‘meet, greet and eat’ event.

“We’re trying to give something different to the local community,” explained Mr Summers, who owns Lily Woo Entertainments.

He hopes that people will be inspired to hear from Mr Wardley and Mr Egan.

“People love stories,” Mr Summers continued. “Take Fabio Wardley – a Chantry boy, he started boxing and got noticed and has done really well for himself, but he’s still humble. He’s not forgotten his roots. Kids look up to him.”

Mr Beadsworth, who owns DB Fragrances and Ipswich Alloy Wheels in Greenwich Close, agreed.

“We want events like this to give a boost to Ipswich, and give people a reason to come out,” he said. “We’ve even got people coming into Ipswich from other places for the event, which is great for our town.”

There are still a few tickets remaining, but the event is expected to sell out soon.

On the night, several prizes will be auctioned off for charity, including a boxing glove belonging to boxing legend Nigel Benn, a voucher for wheel refurbishment, and several DB Fragrances.

The proceeds will be donated to a children’s arthritis charity. This is a cause particularly close to Mr Beadsworth’s heart, as his daughter, Mia, suffers from the condition.

The event is a collaborative effort between Lily Woo Entertainment and DB Fragrances.
