Passengers travelling to and from Ipswich railway station faced delays and cancellations due to an overhead wire fault on the main line.
Greater Anglia said the problem at Chelmsford is blocking the line towards Colchester on Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: "Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
"Disruption is expected until the end of the day."
The train service from London Liverpool Street to Norwich, which stops at Ipswich station, has been greatly effected by the fault.
The 17.32pm and 17.47pm trains from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich have been cancelled while the 17.02pm train will leave from Colchester instead.
Services later in the evening will also depart from Colchester instead of London Liverpool Street.
