A physiotherapist from Ipswich has been selected to join up with the England football setup to work with the next generation of players.
Jimmy Reynolds, the director of Alpha Physiotherapy in Ipswich, is widely recognised for his work in managing complex sports injuries, particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries.
Previously, Mr Reynolds has worked with international and Olympic athletes across a variety of disciplines. He has also held the position of head of sports science and medicine at Ipswich Town.
Now, he has been selected to help with the men's pathway team, focusing on injury prevention, rehabilitation and maximizing performance for the England youth players looking to break into the Three Lions senior squad one day.
He said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the England football team and to have the opportunity to work with such talented young athletes.
"This is an exciting time for English football, with so much young talent coming through the ranks.
"I’m eager to contribute to their development and help them achieve their full potential, both on and off the pitch."
England have multiple men's pathway teams, including the under-21 squad, which includes Town stars Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson, the Elite League and development squads.
Despite this, Mr Reynolds has assured his patients and the community in Ipswich that he remains committed to them.
He said: "My heart will always be in Ipswich, and I will continue to serve the community here with the same dedication.
"The experiences and insights I gain from working with the national team will only enhance the care I can provide locally.
"The connection between elite sport and community health is vital.
"What we learn at the highest levels of sport can be applied to benefit everyone, whether it’s a young athlete recovering from an injury or someone looking to stay active and healthy."
