Broomhill Library continues to go from strength to strength with more activities than ever being planned and more children using the library.

Thanks to the Broomhill library friends, some of the magazines and newspapers that disappeared will be coming back thanks to fund raising events held by the friends group.

The friends are making a request if anyone has any unwanted gifts that would be suitable for a tombola, please could you think about donating to the library friends so they can be used to raise funds for the library?

Also Calling all Cake bakers ahead of the Christmas fete if anyone would like to bake some cakes to help raise funds at the fete that would be fantastic.

The knit and natter group that meets every Wednesday 2pm until 4:30pm is growing rapidly so if you enjoy knitting crochet etc just pop down.

Continuing the theme of crafts, the craft club which meets on Sundays from 10am-2.30pm. It is another group that is growing fast so if knitting or crochet are not your thing but making and gluing are then, head down to Broomhill to try a different craft each week.

Heritage Open Days

I also wanted to mention the success of the Heritage Open Days as the crowds poured into the beloved lido.

Around 1100 visitors passed through the event, many reminiscing about the past, and many intrigued by what they have seen in the news about this iconic lido and the hope to return it to its glory days.

Fusion Lifestyle’s project team were on hand to show people the new designs, discuss concerns and answer questions regarding the pool’s restoration and operation.

The weekend was made even more special with Channel and Masters swimmer, Mike Read MBE, ex Ipswich and county swimmers, plus the former pool manager, lifeguards and staff who used to work at Broomhill.

The Broomhill Pool Trust wishes to thank all of those that helped put on the event, Community Payback teams who helped clean up the site, and the public who came with old memories and a new passion for the pool.

The Broom Hill Pool Trust has some limited-edition merchandise with details available on www.broomhillpool.org in aid of trust funds. The perfect Christmas gift.

The Broomhill Pool Trust is also on Instagram and Facebook to help you keep up to date with important developments.
