Before joining the Gazette newsroom in 2021, Daniel studied English at Aberdeen and Durham University, and earned an NCTJ Gold Standard Diploma in 2020.

Terence Longstaff, the Reform UK candidate, won 6,664 votes to finish in third place ahead of the Liberal Democrats.
Colchester Conservative candidate James Cracknell refuses to commit his future to the city after finishing second in the constituency.
The Labour candidate won more than 18,000 votes as she defeated the Conservative James Cracknell, who finished in second.
