A total of 269 new homes will be built in a village north of Ipswich after the scheme was approved by planners.
Taylor Wimpey's proposals to build the development on land off Norwich Road in Barham have been given the green light by Mid Suffolk District Council.
The developer said the estate will be a mix of houses, bungalows and apartments, with 35% of the properties classed as affordable.
Construction is set to begin next spring, Taylor Wimpey added.
Mark Chapman, technical and planning director at Taylor Wimpey East Anglia, said: "We are thrilled with the decision which means we can bring forward this landmark development within mid Suffolk.
"The range of sustainability measures onsite means we can represent and enhance the development’s semi-rural setting, with the inclusion of air source heat pumps as standard and electric car charging points.
"We are committed to building greener, healthier homes for everyone.
"We would like to thank everyone, including local residents and the community, who have helped us develop the proposals by giving us their feedback.
"We are confident that this development will bring a lasting positive impact to the Barham community."
