Staff at an Ipswich care home are "delighted" after health inspectors saw a significant improvement following its response to concerns
Chrissian Residential Home, on Woodbridge Road, went from 'requires improvement' to 'good' in just five months following visits from the Care Quality Commission.
At the time of the latest inspection on October 31, the service provided support to 22 people - most of them older and some living with dementia.
The report said health inspectors "were encouraged by the progress made" and "the provider had taken action to mitigate the risks to the health, safety and welfare of people living in the home".
The initial report, published on May 25, followed an unannounced visit after the CQC "received concerns in relation to risk management, records, safe care and treatment and the management of the home."
Inspectors' findings included several areas of the home which "posed a safety and infection control risk" which required improvement, a lack of robustness regarding risk assessment systems and concerns surrounding whether "the deployment and organisation of staff on shift fully considered the needs of people and supported them to safely move around the home."
Following the visit, the home put together an action plan to tackle such issues, appointing a new registered manager and working to improve the overall service provided.
This resulted in health inspectors rating it good in all five categories.
Chrissian was no longer in breach of regulations and "improvements had been made and were ongoing to ensure the premises and equipment were maintained in a safe, comfortable and clean condition."
Chrissian Residential Home director, Feizal Molabaccus, said: "We are delighted with the latest CQC rating of ‘Good’ and we would like to thank the whole team including the manager - Ram - who have worked really hard, given their love & dedication to the residents of this small family-run care home.
"We are pleased with our improvements already made and are extremely excited to the future developments while maintaining the high standards already in place.
"Looking at the future, we will continue with empowering our staff for both their progression as well as the companies, continued further modernisation of the facilities while maintaining a homely environment as well as a small extension to enable us to increase our service to our local community."
