As the festive period comes to a close and the new year approaches, keeping track of what is open can prove a little trickier than normal.

To help, Ipswich Borough Council has announced which services will be operating between now and the start of 2023. 

Bin collections:

There will be no changes to black and blue bin collections over Christmas and New Year. 

However, there will be no brown bin collections on or between Tuesday 27 December and Monday 9 January. 

Collections will resume on Tuesday 10 January.

The council has asked people to leave real Christmas trees by their brown bins as they will collect it for free.

Crown Car Park:

The Crown car park on Charles Street has now reopened after closing on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Parks:

All parks will remain open barring a frosty barring any icy snaps.

Sport:

Crown Pools will have reduced hours on December 31 (7.30am - 4pm) and January 2 (7.30am - 5.30pm). It will be closed on January 1.

Fore Street Pool closed on Christmas Eve and will remain so until January 2.

Gainsborough, Northgate, and Whitton Sports Centres have reduced opening hours on 31 December (8.30am - 4pm) and will be closed on January 1 and 2.

Museums:

Ipswich Museum and Ipswich Art Gallery remain closed during refurbishment works.

Christchurch Mansion will be closed on January 1 and 2.

Cemeteries and Crematorium:

Ipswich cemeteries remain open to visitors, but the Cemetery Office will be closed from December 31 to January 2.

Ipswich Market:

Ipswich Market will be closed on January 1 and 2.

Town Hall:

The Town Hall will be closed on January 1 and 2.

Ipswich Theatres:

Ipswich Regent Theatre is closed on January 1 and 2.

The Corn Exchange is closed on January 1 and 2. 

King Street Cinema (formerly Ipswich Film Theatre) located within the Corn Exchange continues to be closed until January 5.

Shopmobility

Ipswich Borough Council’s Shopmobility service will be closed on January 1 and 2. 

Customer Services

Ipswich Borough Council Customer Services will be closed from December 31 to January 2. 

HEARS

The Ipswich HEARS service is on duty 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, so there is no change to the service during this period.
