An application has been submitted to build a 'Before I Die' wall on Ipswich Waterfront.
The proposal, which has been put forward by St Elizabeth Hospice, would see the installation of an art wall opposite Dance East encouraging passers by to answer the question 'Before I die, I want to….’ in chalk.
The hospice has submitted the plans to the Central Area Committee with a request for £1,400 to fund the project.
If approved, the 10-metre wall would be on the Waterfront for the month of May, accompanying the charity's largest fundraising event and 'Dying Matters Week'.
Application documents said the project will "allow reflection on death" and "will not only enable emotional expression, but serve as an art feature and signposting tool to other support services, with a QR code alongside.
The documents added: "This will result not only raising awareness, but also increase footfall to the Waterfront".
The ‘Before I Die’ wall is a global participatory art project and in Ipswich will contribute to the missions of the hospice and the ‘Compassionate Communities’ Campaign.
The proposal will be discussed by the Central Area Committee on Wednesday, March 1.
