Shelves are starting to empty out in Ipswich's Wilko store after the chain fell into administration earlier this month.
The store, in Upper Brook Street near the Sainsbury's supermarket, launched a huge sale following the announcement.
But not all hope is lost as a last-minute bid has been launched to save the retailer, with restructuring specialist M2 Capita offering £90million to keep the chain trading, according to the Guardian.
Wilko has suspended redundancies while administrators consider rescue offers, the GMB union said on Tuesday.
This comes after weeks of turmoil for the brand after it was plunged into administration on August 10, with appointed administrators failing to secure a rescue deal.
Speaking after the news of Wilko's administration earlier this month, Ipswich borough councillor John Cook, who represents the Alexandra Ward, said it was "not unexpected".
He said: "Hardest hit are the company's staff, and the best we can hope for is that the administrators can find a new operator for the business. Meanwhile, staff face an anxious time."
