A retired Greater Anglia train driver has completed his challenge of working 66 days in different jobs.

In January, Tony Harris from Ipswich set himself the challenge of working different jobs for 66 days of the year.

The 66-year-old had many managing directors and chief executives contact him, however, due to HR team's raising concerns over health and safety, Mr Harris changed his challenge from 66 companies for one day, to as many days as they wanted.

This led to him making coffee in Geek Retreat in Ipswich, painting and decorating, handing out new bus timetables in Clacton, gardening, garage clearing, bag packing at Sainsbury's and working in Adnams merchandise store at the Suffolk Show.

He said: "The best jobs were the ones where I helped make a difference to someone's life.

"These were mostly elderly widows who wanted some gardening or decorating done, but the thing that put a smile on their faces was just having someone to talk to and cater for."

For every job he did, he gave the money he was getting paid to East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

So far, he has raised £6,430 for the charity.

He said: "I'm so glad I made this change.

"I honestly thought I would have to go into 2024 to complete the number of days.

"I've decided to continue until the end of the year, raising as much money as I can.

"I had been thinking of ways I could raise funds for this wonderful charity.

"The reason I chose EACH is because I used to live on Felixstowe Road, near The Treehouse in Ipswich.

"I've always been aware of the great work the charity does and have so much respect for it.

"I can't begin to imagine how parents must feel when they have children with life-threatening conditions and want to do whatever I can to help."
