5 things you want to see open in former Suffolk Wilko stores

The homeware retailer had stores in Ipswich, Mildenhall, Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds and they have all closed down in recent weeks after the chain went into administration in August. 

We asked our readers what they would like to see move into the vacant stores now they have all closed down.

Here are just some of the responses we received. 

1. IKEA 

There have been calls to open IKEA click and collect stores in the former Wilko units.

The Swedish company is well-known for its ready-to-assemble furniture and other homeware. 

One person said they would "love" to see an IKEA store open. 

2. Morrisons 

A number of people would like to see a Morrisons open in the former Wilko stores. 

Ann Marshallsay said a Morrisons in Bury St Edmunds would be good. 

3. QD

People are calling for the discount store QD to open in some Suffolk towns. 

The company has stores in Sudbury, Stowmarket and Newmarket. 

It is well-known for its cheaper prices for its products. 

4. Woolworths 

Although the company closed all of its stores in 2009, there are calls for it to reopen in Suffolk.

5. The Range 

The Range was also a favourite to replace Wilko, having bought the retailer's brand and website in a £5million deal. 

The company has more than 200 stores across the UK, including in Ipswich. 

It sells homeware, furniture and DIY products.
