Felixstowe business selling out-of-date products closed down

East Suffolk Council, alongside multiple agencies, carried out a crackdown on crime and anti-social behaviour in Felixstowe on Tuesday. 

During the operation, a business was forced to close after it was discovered they were selling alcohol and out-of-date products to customers, while staff were found to have a lack of training.

Two buildings were also subjected to fire safety enforcement, according to East Suffolk Council.

Among those taking action were Trading Standards and licensing officers and environment protection officers.

Councillor Jan Candy, ward member for Eastern Felixstowe and community safety partnership chair, said: "This day of targeted activity allowed partners to build closer working relationships and bolster our efforts to safeguard communities.

"We know that the overwhelming majority of businesses trade in full compliance with the law, but we are also prepared to take proportionate action where breaches are identified.

"This type of joint operation can act as a visible deterrent and help achieve immediate results. Often, it’s about providing advice and guidance to make a positive change.”

During the operation, two licensed premises were found to have out-of-date licenses, fly-tipping sites were cleared and speed checks were carried out.

The day of action also saw 38 wheelie bins tagged with guidance about proper usage and a number of paving and road surface issues reported. 

Elsewhere an abandoned car was located and one unroadworthy vehicle was reported.
