Plans have been submitted to construct and open a retail pod next to a Sainsbury's in Ipswich for a well-known repair and key-cutting chain.
Sainsbury's in Hadleigh Road has sought permission from Ipswich Borough Council to build a pod on its site for Timpson.
The pod would be located outside the store, to the southeast of the entrance, and will not result in the loss of any parking spaces.
While being on the pavement, the application states that the pod will be "sufficient width to accommodate the proposal, while allowing ample room for pedestrians to pass either side of the pod".
Timpson, a chain that offers dry cleaning, shoe and watch repair, key-cutting and engraving services, already operates outside many Sainsbury's in the UK, including the Warren Heath store in the east of Ipswich.
The pod itself, will consist of a customer service counter and waiting area, as well as the staff working areas.
The application states: "The rationale for having a Timpson pod is that it will provide an additional service for Sainsbury's customers while they do their shopping."
