An Ipswich thief has been fined and told to pay compensation after he admitted stealing two bottles of beer from a supermarket.

Shaun Cattermole, of Holbrook Road in the Suffolk town, pleaded guilty to stealing £6.80 worth of beer from The Food Warehouse, a subsidiary of Iceland, in Ipswich.

The offence took place on January 22.

A court listing did not reveal which branch of The Food Warehouse the thefts happened at.

Appearing at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich in March, Cattermole was ordered to pay a £40 fine and £6.80 compensation.

The 34-year-old was not asked to cover prosecution costs for the offence, which breached the Theft Act 1968, due to his limited means.
