A violent Ipswich man put his hand around his partner’s neck during a row after threatening to “kill her and put her in the bin”, a court has heard.
Derek Bias, who’d been in a relationship with the woman for a year, had entered her flat uninvited while she was doing the washing up on November 26 last year and pinned her down by her arms on a sofa.
When she screamed at him, he said he wasn’t going to leave and told her: “You know what I can do.”
He then said “I’m going to kill you and put you in the bin” before putting his arm around her neck and squeezing for three seconds, Ipswich Crown Court heard.
Bias, 34, of Vernon Street, Ipswich, admitted intentional strangulation, battery and criminal damage.
Judge Richard Kelly banned him from contacting the victim for five years and adjourned sentence until next month.
The court heard that the day before the incident when Bias put his arm round the woman’s neck he had damaged a coffee table and television belonging to her after accusing her of cheating on him.
