Plans to convert publishing offices in Martlesham into a plant and tool hire site have been given the green light.

East Suffolk Council received Toddy Tool Hire's proposals to change the use of the site at Max House in Sandy Lane back in January.

A planning document submitted alongside the proposals said Toddy Tool Hire had "outgrown" its unit at Spencers Garage in Martlesham and was looking to expand.

The document said the firm "needs to relocate to larger premises" after spending three years at its current site.

It added: "The application seeks planning permission for change of use from offices with associated storage to a sui-generis use comprising tool and plant hire with associated storage and workshop facilities."

Martlesham Parish Council raised no objection to the proposals, nor did Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service or Suffolk County Council's Highways department.

East Suffolk's planners have now given the scheme the go-ahead, with certain conditions.

These include the plant only being able to operate between 7.30am and 5pm from Monday to Friday, with the hours of 8am to 12pm for Saturdays.
