A teenager from Ipswich has been chosen to represent his country at the upcoming European Junior Championships in swimming.
Reuben Alty, a member of Teamipswich Swimming, has been selected by Swim Ireland to compete next month at the contest in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Reuben joined Teamipswich when he was just seven years old and has gone from strength to strength in his achievements.
The 16-year-old, who studies at Millfield School in Somerset, still competes for Teamipswich when he returns to Suffolk.
Hi mum, Jo, said she was delighted to see her teen son represent the nation at the event.
She said: "The club has been such a big part of what Reuben has achieved so far and we couldn't be prouder that he has been selected to represent Ireland in the championships."
Dave Champion, Teamipswich head coach, paid tribute to Reuben's hard work and commitment to swimming.
He added: "Reuben is an incredibly talented swimmer and I am delighted he is getting this recognition on a European stage.
"His selection bears testament to the dedication he has always shown to both training and competing and I am so proud of what he is achieving.
"The whole of Teamipswich will be behind him all the way and we are wishing him the very best of luck with this amazing experience."
Teamipswich, who primarily train at Crown Polls in Ipswich, were founded in 1884.
Reuben adds to the list of a host of swimmers to have represented their respective countries in an international tournament - including the club's assistant head coach Zoe Cray, who represented Great Britain at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney.
