An Ipswich man has been ordered by magistrates to pay more than £800 after being caught driving over three times the limit.
David Day, of Radcliffe Drive in the Suffolk town, was stopped by police on March 31 while he was driving along the Strand at Wherstead.
When the 41-year-old was breathalysed, it was found that there was 105 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of Day’s breath – three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
Day appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on April 29, where he pleaded guilty to the offence of drink driving.
He was fined £520 by magistrates.
Day was also ordered to pay court costs of £105 and a surcharge which goes towards victim services of £208.
This brings the total Day will have to pay up to £833.
His driving licence was endorsed with 10 penalty points, according to a court listing.
