A multi-venue music festival in Ipswich got off to a flying start as large crowds enjoyed the talent on offer.

Brighten The Corners Festival returned on Friday afternoon with many people gathering on the Cornhill to listen to the musical talents of some of the region's up and coming artists.

Artists from around the country delighted the crowds at venues such as The Baths, The Smokehouse, St Stephen's Church, Corn Exchange and the Cornhill.

Music kicked off on the Cornhill with Sophiethegreat performing. The rain thankfully stopped just before her set was due to begin.

The Cornhill played host to the Apply to Play winners, which offered musicians the chance to showcase their music for free to the crowd.

Also on the Cornhill was the Adnams beer truck, which served refreshments to customers including a BTC lager in special cups created especially for the festival.

Indoor venues for ticket holders began later, with the first group, Arthur Black, performing at St Stephen's Church - which was renovated last year into a music venue.

Within minutes, the church had filled up with people excited to see the group from Norwich perform.

Elsewhere, the Corn Exchange hosted Prima Queen, a band who had supported Paulo Nutini and Wet Leg.

The all-female group, fronted by best friends Louise from England and Kristin from USA, performed in front of hundreds of people on Friday evening, being the first of four acts to play at the Corn Exchange.

The first day of the festival proved to be a successful launch as hundreds enjoyed the variety of music on offer. Music continues on Saturday for more live entertainment.
