A 35-year-old man from Ipswich has been handed a suspended jail sentence after he admitted attacking a woman.
Jacek Czekirwinski, of Felixstowe Road in the town, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court having been charged with a single count of assault by beating.
This was in relation to a woman being attacked on November 13 last year in Ipswich.
Czekirwinski admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates.
He was handed a jail term for a period of eight weeks, suspended for 24 months, with a court listing noting that magistrates considered the offence to be so serious that a custodial sentence was justified.
Czekirwinski was also instructed by magistrates to take part in a rehabilitation programme for a period of 40 days and to comply with any instructions of a responsible officer to attend appointments.
In addition, he was £105 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £154 victim surcharge.
A collection order was made for the sums.
