A man from mid Suffolk has been ordered to pay out more than £1,200 after possessing a Staffordshire Bull Terrier which attacked another man.
Egidijus Rakauskas, 44, of Bury Road in Woolpit, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich.
He was charged in relation to an incident that took place on May 14, 2022 where he was accused of possessing a dog that was dangerously out of control while in Wilkinson Drive, Kesgrave.
The dog is a brown and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and in this incident it had injured another man, a court listing said.
Rakauskas pleaded not guilty to the charge.
However, magistrates at the court found him guilty of the offence and handed him a 12-month conditional discharge along with a compensation order for £599.
Rakauskas was also told to pay £620 in terms of costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a victim surcharge of £26.
This meant the total amount the defendant was told to pay out was £1,245.
All this would be paid in fortnightly instalments of £50.
