The late Strictly Come Dancing professional Robin Windsor will be honoured in a new West End musical.
Windsor, who was from Ipswich, died at the age of 44 on February 19 this year.
His funeral was held at Seven Hills Crematorium in March and was attended by many of his Strictly friends and colleagues, including Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, Dragons' Den star Deborah Meaden, Strictly judge Anton Du Beke and actress Lisa Riley.
Now, Windsor’s former co-star, Pasha Kovalev, has co-created a new show, Robin Windsor – The Final Act, to honour the life of his friend.
It will be coming to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on November 3.
Co- created by Kovalev and ballroom dancer Anya Garnis, the show is described as “a full on, action packed evening of entertainment, with special guest appearances by some of Robin’s friends from the entertainment world of his 20-plus-year career”.
Guest performances will be given by Kovalev and Garnis, as well as Deborah Meaden, former Strictly professionals Joanne Clifton and Vincent Simone, singer-songwriter Lance Ellington, and others to be announced in the weeks to come.
During his life, Windsor was a vocal supporter and ambassador of the charity SANE. The organisation works to combat the stigma surrounding mental illness and to raise awareness.
All proceeds from the show will be donated to SANE.
Chief executive Marjorie Wallace CBE said: “We are thrilled and honoured to be chosen as the charity by Robin’s colleagues, friends and family for this star-studded show.
"Robin was not only a master of dance but a source of energy and joy, who as a SANE ambassador helped so many others through times of depression, which he expressed as ‘dancing through darkness’.”
