A man accused of being in possession of a knife in Christchurch Park has denied the offence.
Keith McKenzie, 48, of Bond Street in Ipswich, pleaded not guilty at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court to two counts of possession of a bladed article at Suffolk Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Police were called at around 8.10pm on Monday 29 July, to reports of an incident in Christchurch Park in Ipswich.
Following his plea, McKenzie was remanded in custody and his case was committed to Ipswich Crown Court for a trial and preparation hearing on August 29.
A police cordon was put in place in the park on Tuesday morning as officers carried out an investigation.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said: "We would ask the public not to speculate online as to the circumstances or background surrounding this incident as the case is now active with an individual charged and enquiries remain on going."
