Two Ipswich roads will be closed next week while work is carried out to create a "trail of green" through the town.
Suffolk Highways will be carrying out investigation works along Princes Street, St Nicholas Street and Queen Street in advance of the Greener Ipswich Project.
The initiative by Ipswich Borough Council, which is supported through the Government's Towns Fund, is expected to improve biodiversity.
Green areas will be added from the Cornhill and through the town centre to Ipswich Waterfront.
