An Ipswich man who suffers with mobility issues has said it is "disgusting" after he received a ticket for staying in a supermarket car park for too long while he was doing his shopping.
Tony Harris-Eze was told to pay £40 for parking for too long in the Tesco Extra Copdock Interchange car park.
Mr Harris-Eze, 54, has mobility issues and a weaker eyesight, meaning it takes him longer to do his shopping than most, with it taking about 90 minutes on average for him to do a shop.
However, at the car park, Tesco has introduced restrictions after 8pm for shoppers to only stay in the car park for one hour maximum.
The supermarket says this change was to help it manage the car park more efficiently and deter anti-social behaviour.
Mr Harris-Eze said he goes shopping later in the evening due to the roads and shops being quieter.
He said: "There is no consideration for people in wheelchairs, people with mobility issues, elderly people.
"We all take longer than others, and the signs are ineligible if you have poorer eye sight.
"It's a huge shop - why can't they announce the parking restrictions over the Tannoy or have signs with bigger writing?
"It's disgusting that I do a shop, spend £100 with the company, and then get fined on top of that."
Mr Harris-Eze said there was "no consideration" for those that need a little more time than others.
A similar situation happened in the car park last month, when a woman was fined £40 for over staying the maximum time.
A Tesco spokesperson said: We would like to apologise to Mr Harris-Eze and can confirm that the parking ticket he received has been cancelled.
"The car parking restrictions at our Ipswich Extra are in place with the aim of managing the high demand for spaces while also ensuring our customers can park for enough time to shop.”
The parking ticket has now been cancelled by Horizon and Tesco due to the circumstances.
