The preferred trust to run the school in the Ipswich Garden Suburb development has been selected by the county council.

Henley Gate is set to open the first of two primary schools in 2027, which will take 210 students from the 1,100-strong housing development in north Ipswich.

As a result, after a series of interviews testing experience and understanding, Suffolk County Council believes Paradigm Trust is the best suited to run the school.

The authority will discuss they will discuss this in depth during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday September 10 before recommending the trust to the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, via the regional directors.

In a pre-meeting report, officers state: "Paradigm was successful on this occasion, panel members recognised the knowledge and experience of the other trusts interviewed and hope that they will show interest in future opportunities in Suffolk."

Paradigm currently runs seven schools in Ipswich and London, with most being achieving 'good' or 'outstanding' ratings by Ofsted.

However, Ofsted downgraded Ipswich Academy, a secondary school run by Paradigm, from 'good' to 'requires improvement' in May this year.
