There were severe delays on the A14 near Ipswich due to a lane closure remaining in place on the Orwell Bridge.
A lane closure has been put in place in the westbound carriageway of the A14 on the Orwell Bridge while National Highways carries out urgent works.
The closure is caused severe delays for drivers on Monday morning with the AA Traffic Map saying there are queues of about 20 minutes.
National Highways put the closure in place on Friday and a spokesman said the lane will be closed "until further notice".
The spokesman added: "We appreciate the impact this will have on the local community but taking this course of action is necessary to ensure all road users remain safe whilst travelling on our road networks."
