A 56-year-old man who stole two pairs of glasses frames from a store in Ipswich town centre has been told to pay back the value of the items in compensation, as well as a fine.
Rupert Crossfield, who is of Edgeworth Road in the Suffolk town, appeared before Suffolk Magistrates' Court charged with theft from a shop.
This related to the theft of two pairs of glasses frames that were taken from Vision Express in Tavern Street on November 10 last year, a court listing said.
The frames were worth a total of £460.
Crossfield pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before magistrates.
He was told to pay £460 back to Vision Express in the form of compensation and instructed to pay a fine of £80, meaning he had to pay out £540 for the theft from the store.
No order was made for Crown Prosecution Service costs from the defendant.
Crossfield's guilty plea was taken into account when magistrates decided on his sentence.
