Resurfacing works in Ipswich's Devonshire Road have been delayed as drivers fail to move parked cars out of the way.
In August, Suffolk Highways announced that the section of Back Hamlet and the entirety of Devonshire Road would be closed from 8am to 6pm from September 9 to 11 for repairs.
However, highways workers had to announce a delay in these works due to cars still being placed on the street.
These roads are just off the one-way system, near Alexandra Park, and serve as a connection to the Waterfront.
Julian Rose, 34, is a resident of the street who finds these works important as they will help fill up the potholes on the streets.
"The road is very uneven, which makes it very bumpy and it's not really a fun ride to be on it, to be honest," he said.
"So I was looking forward to it when the post came through, but I guess others didn't see that we were asked to move our cars off the road so that the work can be done."
James Dean, 47, a resident who uses Devonshire Road to get to his house, added to the claims of needing additional work on the road.
He said: "It's filled with just patchwork to fill up the holes, which makes it so uncomfortable to drive on.
"We need for this road to be fixed."
He added that he had moved his car, but noted that the authorities had not given residents enough time to inform them of the changes.
"I think a lot of people may have just missed the note that said we need to move our car," he added.
Suffolk Highways has now delayed the works to Thursday, October 3, when the two roads will be closed from 8am to 4.30pm.
A short diversion route will be in place along Foxhall Road, Alan Street and Cavendish Street.
Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
