An Ipswich man has been handed a suspended prison sentence and fined hundreds of pounds after pleading guilty to burglary offences.
Karl Bones, of Hareball Road in Ipswich, was ordered to pay £500 in a fine and a 25-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after pleading guilty before Suffolk Magistrates' Court.
Bones, 37, was caught stealing from Gippeswyk Hall on Sunday, September 29 after attempting to steal from the same location earlier in the month.
According to the court, his crimes were said to have been "aggravated by alcohol".
His guilty plea was taken into account during his sentencing and he is required to seek alcohol treatment for 12 months.
Commenting on his suspended sentence, the court said that: "The custodial sentence has been suspended because there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation with support."
The defendant was ordered to pay a £500 fine, to be paid weekly to the court as compensation.
He will pay no legal fees or additional surcharge.
