ActivLives has celebrated its achievements at the Active Suffolk Awards 2024.

ActivLives chief executive Julie Stokes was named Activity Champion of the Year, while the charity's exercise programme BreatheFit was recognised as runner-up.

Ms Stokes led the charity for more than a decade, advocating for services that promote physical and mental wellbeing across Suffolk.

Her leadership of inclusive sports and effective chair-based exercise programmes for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities garnered special mention.

The awards also acknowledged her efforts in fostering community involvement.

Meanwhile, the BreatheFit programme, which operates in Felixstowe and Ipswich, secured the runner-up spot for The Innovative Project of the Year.

The programme, catering to individuals with respiratory conditions, was commended for improving physical health through regular weekly sessions.

It also received recognition for cultivating a community among its members, enhancing their social and mental wellbeing.

The Active Suffolk Awards is a yearly celebration of Suffolk’s sporting talent and the organisations and individuals that bolster local communities through physical activity and sport.
