All lanes on the A12 have now reopened following a crash involving six vehicles.
A closure was in place between junction 20b and junction 19 near Boreham in Essex.
Delays appear to have cleared.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to the crash on the northbound carriageway at Boreham at about 4.45pm today, Wednesday, April 6.
In a tweet, Essex Police said that a serious multi-vehicle collision had occurred with one of the vehicles ending up on its roof.
There were long delays in the area as a result of the crash, though the road was clear by 8pm.
The extent of any injuries is not yet known.
