Former Ipswich Town loanee Keith Andrews has been appointed set-piece coach at fellow Premier League side Brentford.

The 43-year-old joins the Bees after departing Sheffield United, where he had been on the first-team coaching staff since December 2023,

Andrews worked alongside Chris Wilder but couldn't help the Blades avoid relegation to the Championship.

He was previously the assistant manager to Stephen Kenny for the Republic of Ireland national team and is now set to work alongside Bees boss Thomas Frank.

The West London club finished 16th in the top flight last season and will host Kieran McKenna's side in October at the Gtech Community Stadium.

On Andrews’ appointment as set-piece coach, Brentford director of football Phil Giles said: “Everyone at Brentford is extremely happy to see Keith join us at pre-season training for his first day today.

“He is someone we have known for a while and always had in mind for a role at some point in the future.

“He is someone we have known for a while and always had in mind for a role at some point in the future.

“Whilst he has had more wide-ranging coaching roles in the past, focusing on set-pieces as a specialism is something which we think he has the qualities to do extremely well, and I’m sure that our staff can help him develop as a coach, too.

“Set-pieces are an important part of what we do well and I’m sure we’ll maintain those standards with Keith in charge.”

The Irishman spent time on loan at Town from Blackburn Rovers during the first half of the 2011/12 season, where he scored nine times in 20 games.
